- (Patchouli comes across Remilia in the SDM hallway.)
Patchouli: Hey, Remilia!
Remilia: Oh, hi, Patchy, how's it going? - (Patchouli floats up a few inches in her excitement.)
Patchouli: Never better! In fact, at the moment I feel well enough to be an EX-Midboss!
SFX: float up
Remilia: Oho! I expect you'll want to do something about that, hmm? - (Remilia starts to float up as well.)
Patchouli: Just so! Shall we adjourn to your chambers, then, my lady?
Remilia: Of coooourse!!
SFX: also float up - (They face off in a darker chamber, Patchouli carrying a book.)
Narration Box: So then, y'know ...
Patchouli: Hmmm ... Perhaps we ought to limit it to merely one Card each?
Remilia: Yeah, I wouldn't wanna hurt you too much! - (They fly upward. A ghostly Spell Card image of Patchouli appears.)
Patchouli: Ah, such Scarlet Devilishness ... SHALL BE YOUR UNDOING!!
Red Spell Card: Moon Sign 「Silent Selene」
Remilia: (cheerfully) I'm gonna remind you that you said that after you lose. - (Remilia navigates through Patchouli's danmaku.)
Patchouli: So confident, you aren't attacking?
Remilia: Oh, just waiting for the right moment to fire it off ... - (Remilia gets closer.)
Patchouli: "Fire it off"? Remilia, you know I've come up with a way to counteract "Red the Nightless Castle"!
Remilia: That's not *quite* what I'm using ... - (Remilia invades Patchouli's personal space amid the danmaku. A ghostly Spell Card image of Remilia appears, smirking darkly.)
Patchouli: (nervous) Eep?
Remilia: Yeah!
Blue Spell Card: Scarlet Magic ... - (Meiling and Sakuya drink tea by the front gate.)
Meiling: Welllll, I suppose I *could* manipulate my own body's chi to make them smaller ... might even be easier than the opposite!
SFX: flirt flirt
Sakuya: Is that so ...? - (There is an explosion from above.)
SFX: GORILLA
Blue Spell Card: ... 「SCARLET DEVIL TRIGGER!」
Sakuya: What!?
Meiling: Ack, not again!

Er...good thing we've already been through the Retelling of Scarlet Devil. There would've been problems if she still actually needed to be an EX-midboss at this point.
TBH, I think I like Remilia == butt monkey better, but whatever. I'll give this a few more chances, if you have a few more ideas.

And YDL, try to be a bit more tactful about things, please? First you seemed to complain about supposedly making Remilia a buttmonkey, and now you're going "Baw, I liked the other way better" and acting like I have some sort of need for you personally to approve of it.

Muffin, you were guilty of the overuse of Charisma Break, but now you're redimed. "Hmm, we seem to have been hanging around the SDM crew a lot for the past few of weeks" you say? I can't never get enough SDM crew!

@Ataeru - That may be, but Sun Sign "Royal Flare" an exercise in proper vertical placement in EoSD. Her Five Elements sign is way more difficult in a regular danmaku battle.

Yeah, my comic tends to do the danmaku-game version of cards where possible. And she was more interested in being "RAWR EX-MIDBOSS" than "HAAAAAAX"
Someone accused me of making Remilia the buttmonkey, so I decided it was time for her to kick ass. Precisely whose ass she ought to kick gave me a certain amount of difficulty, because I needed it to be someone who was not overused either for "someone who might challenge Remilia" or for "getting beaten." I went with Patchouli, because (a) she isn't a Standard Incident-Causer like Yuka or Tenshi, (b) she's obviously quite friendly with Remilia so there's nothing vindictive going on or anything, and (c) she kicked ass the last time we saw her so it balances out (whups, o rite, never mind). Muffin ish concerned 'bout principlez~
I had to recreate the dark-background from Remilia's chambers. Now, hopefully, I will not need to do this again! Yay offsite backup.
Patchouli's pattern is a not-really-faithful-but-whatever reproduction of her first EX-spellcard.
Oh, look, updated background from just last week! Meiling's comment in panel 9 is a reference to a fanfic by Kilgamayan that was in Another Dream 5A; say what you like about the concept, but it's basically the only original thing I've ever seen anyone do with the whole "breast envy" schtick.
The "Devil Trigger" is from Devil May Cry, it's a super-duper-transformy-thingy, y'know, a Super Mode (Warning, link leads to TVTropes. Muffin will not be held responsible for hours of time lost as a result of following it.But see also this disclaimer) thing. (I got the actual line from someone on IRC.)
Hmm, we seem to have been hanging around the SDM crew a lot for the past few of weeks. Time to do something wildly different! (And as some have noted, we're not that far from #100, either ...)
