Touhou Nekokayou: Scarlet Weather Archive in Japanese Red #86

First Previous Random Next Latest

Characters: Patchouli Knowledge, Koakuma, Marisa Kirisame, Remilia Scarlet

You'd think Patchouli would've come up with this line of reasoning sooner. (Well ... okay, spell card rules, but.) The specific line she used is taken from Men In Black.

"Mukyu" seems to be a noise Patchouli makes in fanon. I'm not sure what it means; my understanding is that it's sort of "SFX: squishy." In any event, I have not previously used it before ... until now! (dun dun dunnnn)

Annoying thing: I've found as I make the scripts that I'm a bit more likely lately to accidentally forget to snapshot a panel, thus forcing me to remake it. This has happened precisely once for every comic I've made since I started transcribing them.

  1. (Patchouli and Koakuma are in the library.)
Koakuma: We can only teleport an amount of books which weighs as much as you do, so we aren't going to get all of them at once ...
Patchouli: That is acceptable. I'll get the rest after I get there.
  2. (Koakuma casts a teleportation spell on Patchouli.)
Koakuma: All right then ... mmph, this is tricky since she's moving ...
Patchouli: Don't worry, I have faith in you!
    SFX: zugga zugga zugga
  3. (Patchouli vanishes in a puff of smoke, out of which flies a bunch of books, knocking Koakuma away.)
    SFX: books books books
  4. (Marisa, in her SA outfit, flies through the SDM's hallway, carrying a bulging sack. You can tell it's a sack because it says "This is a sack" on the side.)
Mairsa: (cat-like face) Mweeheeheeheeheeheeee, more books for Marisa!
  5. (The sack abruptly halts in midair, jerking her around a bit.)
    Marisa: Ackpth! What!?
    SFX: Mukyu!
  6. (Patchouli bursts out of the sack in a flurry of books.)
    Patchouli: MARISA KIRISAME!
    Marisa: whut
  7. (They face off, the books scattered.)
Patchouli: End your excessive thievery this instant!
Marisa: Thievery? Whaddaya *mean* thievery? I'm only *borrowin'* the books, ya know?
  8. (Marisa grins cattishly.)
Patchouli: Breaking and entering, forcing your way through the maids, and taking whatever items you please by force!? How could *anyone* mistake that for BORROWING!?
  9. (Marisa babbles stupidly, while Patchouli veinpops.)
Marisa: Patchy, we've been through this before. I'm a human, and you're a youkai. You're gonna live hundreds of times longer than me. You can just have 'em back when I die!
  10. (Patchouli advances murderously. Marisa recoils in terror.)
    SFX: advance murderously
    Marisa: Meep?
    SFX: recoil
  11. (Patchouli chases Marisa away. Remilia and Koakuma enter.)
    Patchouli: ROAR.
    Marisa: (off-panel) AUGH!
Remilia: Okay, uh, I think patchy needs to --
Koakuma: Ah ... duck, Miss Remilia!
  12. (A master spark zips by; Remilia narrowly dodges.)
Patchouli: (hidden in the beam) Mukyuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!
Blue Spell Card: Love Sign 「Master Spark」
    Remilia!: Augh! Right, then!
  13. (Remilia and Koakuma go to where Patchouli has landed.)
Remilia: Patchy ... were you *really* going to try to kill her?
Koakuma: (aside) Wow ... we didn't lose any of the books this time, we got them all back ...
Patchouli: Beats me ... oof ... in fact, it beats me *up.*

Oh, man, nice train of thought! I lol'd hard when I saw "YOUR TERMS ARE ACCEPTABLE." and the "murder-look" on Patchy's face. :D

Genius idea, really.

TBH, if Patchy's going to handle it this way, I think she needs to get to it sooner rather than later. After all, Alice wasn't always a Youkai, and Marisa's in very close contact with Alice. There is no guarantee that Marisa will always have such a short lifespan....

Though it's not exact, Mukyu roughly translates into 'ripoff' of some sort. As-in 'I am being ripped off.'

It's vauge enough though that SFX:Squishy seems to acceptable. :P

Wiki to the rescue!
* After being defeated in Marisa's scenario in IaMP, she utters "mukyu~". Since then, fan works have often depicted her using this sound as a sign of surprise or pouting.

This makes it vaguely canon.

"Wow ... we didn't lose any of the books this time"

Mission accomplished!

So, is Marisa's sack actually supposed to say "This is a sack" on it, or is it just a visual aid for the readers? I kind of like the idea of Marisa actually having a sack that has that written on it for no apparent reason though...

The issue has come up before.

Ah, I was waiting for someone else to mention it ... ;)

(Also, typo fix'd)

I see. Well, glad that's taken care of.

I haven't paid too much attention to the fanfiction here yet (though I do love the Satori one, "Enlightened Mind's Eye). I should probably go back and read some of those.

Kimiko Muffin

And I'm gonna need to put together my chronology ... :3

just wanted to note, if you were trying to go for an exact quote, the line the bug says to the farmer is "Your proposal is acceptable" not "Your terms are acceptable"

Kimiko Muffin

WTFever :P

hahaha! I just have a pension for remembering everything in their exact detail ;)

"YOUR TERMS ARE ACCEPTABLE." Probably the funniest thing Patchy's said in the fanon that I've heard.

It's about time Patchy came up with a spell for this.

ALL the sound effects ere HILARIOUS. Also, nice win for Patchy! (None of the books were stolen). I think Marisa got lucky, like in an FPS where you back away from a melee enemy while firing, desperately hoping to down it before it one-shots you? Yeah, this was one of the few times that ends up WORKING.
