Characters: Yukari Yakumo, Yuyuko Saigyouji, Youmu Konpaku, Old Reimu, Satsuki Hakurei, Mima
Transcript
- (Yukari (in her PCB outfit) is leaving Hakugyokurou, with Yuyuko and ghost-Youmu seeing her off. Youmu is rather snazzily dressed.)
Yukari: Well, I'm off to the Shrine!
Yuyuko: I hope you come again soon!
Youmu: Tell Reimu I said hi! - (Yukari comes out of a gap at the Hakurei Shrine. Satsuki Hakurei is standing there with her gohei.)
Yukari: Hello, m'dear. Is Reimu in?
Satsuki: Ah! Um, yes ... just a minute ... - (Satsuki goes into the Shrine.)
Satsuki: Um, Grandmother ... Yukari's here ...
Reimu: (off-panel) Hmm? Well, what are you waiting for, let her in! - (Old-Reimu meets Yukari inside the Shrine.)
Old-Reimu: Yukari! It's good to see you again! How've you been doing?
Yukari: Just fine, just fine. Glad to see you're doing well. - Old-Reimu: Oh, indeed! Why don't we go outside and have some tea?
Yukari: Ah, that sounds like it would be lovely. - (Old-Reimu and Yukari sit on the front steps of the Shrine as Satsuki serves tea.)
Old-Reimu: Mmm, thank you, Satsuki.
Yukari: Yes, you're certainly able to make delicious tea. It's the most important part of being a Hakurei Shrine Maiden! - (Satsuki leaves.)
Old-Reimu: That girl is such a bright star in my life these days ... I really don't know what I would have done if I hadn't found her.
Yukari: I'm sure you would've found help from the many friends you've found over the years. - Old-Reimu: Mm, yes. But this has been the only chance either of us has had for a real family. Imagine if you'd never had Kon or found Ran or Chen.
Yukari: Haha ... Yes, that's certainly a good argument. - Old-Reimu: (frowning) Still, that carries its own problems. If the need arises once I'm gone, she won't be able to use the Hakurei Yin-Yang Orbs ...
Yukari: Oh, I could fix *that* easy enough! Wouldn't be the first time I meddled in that kind of affair. - Old-Reimu: Ha. I'd mostly prefer it if you just watched over her, gave her a little bit of an edge. What with one thing and another, she's going to need it.
Yukari: Heh ... well, I can do that much. I'll certainly pester her as much as I did with you! - Old-Reimu: Yukari, you'll do that whether I want you to or not.
Yukari: Well, of course I will! - (They sit for a moment, not saying anything; Yukari is giving a catlike face.)
Text: ... - Old-Reimu: Well, I'll still be around for quite a bit. Don't hold my funeral just yet!
Yukari: I'll watch out for Satsuki, regardless.
Old-Reimu: Thank you. - (Mima is floating by the corner of the shrine.)
Mima: (thought cloud) Yes, watch over her ...
Mima: (thought cloud) SHE'S GONNA NEED IT! - (A gap open and a swarm of Yukari's kunai flies out at her.)
Mima: Wha!

Clearly her Team 8 uniform was in the laundry. Even ghosts need to change the sheets every now and again.
Another "future" comic ... I came up with a new logo, which manages to give everything a somewhat nostalgic feel, and retconned it and the previous one to be 60 years in the future instead of 50 years, because I guess that kinda fits better with the sixty-year cycle in Gensokyo.
I decided that future/ghost Youmu should look snazzier, so I applied Youki's body and Iku's hairstyle. Yuyuko made her appear young again, though.
I dunno how much I'm really going to do with Satsuki. OCs are somewhat tricky. I mean, zero-significance NPCs like Mika and Midori are one thing, but Satsuki's the freaking Hakurei miko. I'm asking for trouble just by creating and naming her; you practically have to include complications/limitations like the one in panel 9 (Mima explicitly spells out that only someone with the Hakurei bloodline can use the Yin-Yang Orbs in Story of Eastern Wonderland) to make them less "significant" than the main characters. I also chose the adoption route to save me the trouble of coming up with Satsuki's parents and grandfather ...
Meanwhile, it's interesting how I changed her hairstyle, hair color, clothes ... and you can still tell it's Reimu. Regardless, I really like how Old Reimu turned out.
I was originally going to end it on panel 14, but I decided this way would be more amusing.
