Touhou Nekokayou: Scarlet Weather Archive in Japanese Red #39

First Previous Random Next Latest

Characters: Marisa Kirisame, Sakuya Izayoi

A "blood doll" is a human who hangs around vampires (or is kept around by them) specifically for the purpose of providing a regular meal for them. Since Sakuya is already a vampire herself in this future, Marisa's name-calling is a bit silly (especially since vampires don't need it).

In case you don't get the reference: Sakuya is heavily based on Dio Brando from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. He draws power from something something something the tarot card "The World," enabling him to stop time, and he then throws an excessive number of knives with a cry of "MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA" etc. In an iconic move from the fighting game, he follows this up by dropping a steamroller on his opponent. Presumably, Yukari knows this (although Sakuya seems to have gone "MUDA MUDA MUDA" on her own) ...

I realized I was going to do more of this, so I made a custom logo on 29 March 2009. And I retconned it to 60 years instead of 50, because of PoFV.

Transcript

  1. Narration box: About 60 years from now ...
(Marisa flies through the SDM on her broom.)
Marisa: Lessee ... Patchy should still be in the library right now ...
  2. (A bat-winged Sakuya enters, knife at the ready.)
Sakuya: I thought one of the conditions for helping you become a youkai-magician was that you wouldn't steal Patchouli's books anymore.
    Sakuya SFX: vampire
Marisa: Oh, hi, Sakuya-chan! I'm not gonna steal her books, I'm just gonna pester her a little!
  3. (They square off for a fight; Marisa holds her mini-hakkero while "surfing" on her broom.)
Sakuya: Hmph! Regardless, you're still an intruder! I can't allow you to pass!
Marisa: Hah! Bring it, blood doll!
  4. (Sakuya adopts Dio Brando pose while stopping time, cutting off Marisa's spell card.)
Blue Spell Card: Love Sign 「M
    Red Spell Card: 「ZA WARUDO」
  5. (With time stopped, Sakuya throws a bunch of knives.)
Sakuya: MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA!
  6. (Sakuya resumes time, but Marisa blasts the knives away.)
Blue Spell Card: Love Sign 「Master Spark」
    Sakuya: Argh!
  7. (A gap suddenly opens and Sakuya gets pulled in.)
    SFX: whoosh
    Sakuya: (startled) Wha!
    Marisa: Huh? What's Yukari ...
  8. (A gigantic gap opens up above Marisa's head.)
    SFX: foop
    Marisa: Uh ...
  9. (Something starts to fall out of it, and Marisa hurriedly flies away.)
    Marisa: (shocked) Holy crap!
  10. (The "something" turns out to be a steamroller, with Sakuya standing on top of it.)
    SFX: SMASH
    Sakuya: DAMMIT YUKARI!!

I see a problem in this one.
Marisa stop stealing precious things? NEVER!

why?

What is the particular touhou doujin is this based upon, I was trying to find it for over a year now. Thanks.

I'm not sure what you mean by "this"; the comic itself isn't based on any particular doujin, I made it up pretty much completely. Or, well, "Marisa will become a youkai magician" is nothing new — Akyu herself suggests the possibility — and if Remilia wants Sakuya to remain her maid long-term (from a youkai's perspective), this is pretty much her only option. As for the "vampire = MUDA DA + steamroller" thing, that's from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, like I said in the commentary above.

Wait, wait, Sakuya's spell card doesn't have a primary caption. No "Illusion World". Was that intentional or overlooked? :O

Rena

Ah, that would make sense. I don't think the inclusion of the primary caption would have taken away from it much, but it's more true to the reference this way. Never mind me >.>

I can definitely see/hear that 'ri' in Yukari being drawn out to further the reference.
