2010/07/17: Photoshop Shenanigans

So, now I know for certain that Photoshop CS5's handling of grayscale images is completely retarded (something which I'd previously merely suspected). When you paste an entirely grayscale image into it — whether it was originally grayscale, or merely happens to have no pixels where the RGB values are not equal to each other — it tints it this weird sort of orange color. The tint seems to remain no matter what I do to the color-settings or anything else. Even when I use color-settings which already tint them from "literally as they appear on this monitor," it tints them to a different color. I ended up having to position Cirno in create.swf so that her wingtips slightly poked into the image an area that was one flat color, and then editing them out. Ye gods.

Huh. Seems to be working fine on my end. I am to assume your monitor is in working condition, right?

Probably has nothing to do with this... but wasn't there something in the geek news about 3-6 months ago regarding a bug where some images were always tinted either green or orange in a lot of programs and browsers?

Well, I think my CAPTCHA is oddly appropriate for what you're describing Photoshop acting like...
But on the original topic of my post, it's things like this that makes me glad I don't have to deal with Photoshop or similar programs.
My router has enough issues to make up for my copy of Vista acting sane and/or stable 99.9% of the time...
