Okay, so ... First of all, I'm still working on this; I just haven't had anything particularly interesting or intelligible to say lately.

Second of all, I'm always underestimating the amount of groundwork ahead of me (there's always more groundwork that Needs To Be Done every time I turn around, and that's just the programming) and overestimating the amount of motivation I'm going to have at any given moment, especially with some RL stuff lately that I won't go into details about, but suffice to say, I basically just have no clue whatsoever as to when I'm gonna get this game done.

Bottom line: I'm turning off the official Projected Release Date until such a time as it is clear that I have almost no work left to do, and I have a distributor (apart from myself) and actual-donation-system set up.

Coding's a pain in the ass, doesn't matter the language.

(Hope you're feeling better.)

If you need help with the distribution end, just let me know and I'll gladly help. (I have my ways of getting things known. No, not spam. :P)

I meant "distribution" as in something like Steam or GOG.com or GamersGate. That said, none of those are very good with donationware (though they're all perfectly fine with "free").

I've been putting some serious thought into charging a fixed price (most likely $5 or $10 to start with and then lowering it over time) instead, and the fact that I've publicly announced it as donationware is basically the main/only thing stopping me.

Cirno the Prodigy

Little off topic, but the thing with being a coder is that people expect more. You make a beautiful game, they go out and scream at you: I don't care if you have pneumonia, make a better game or I won't pay. So expect some comments like that, Muffin.

... I'm not entirely sure what the point or topic of that statement is, but okay.

memnarch

If it works for windows, apple-stuff, and linux, plus it looks good enough, you could try to see if the humble bundle people would take it.

Cirno's point was "there are going to be people who scream and demand more from you, so heads up".

Oh, I already knew the fundamentals of Cirno's point, and it's bascially nothing I didn't know already, I just ... wasn't sure where it was coming from, really. But yeah, consider me warned.

As for the other thing, yeah, one of the defining characteristics of OpenTK is the cross-platform compatibility. That shouldn't be any problem if I can compile something that works (and get people on Mac and Linux to install Mono and the other prerequisites) ...
