Touhou Nekokayou: Scarlet Weather Archive in Japanese Red #81

First Previous Random Next Latest

Characters: Parsee Mizuhashi, Hina Kagiyama, Yuugi Hoshiguma

This one probably isn't going to be considered canon within the Nekokayou continuity, insofar as it's a "no fourth wall" joke ... and Hina's in the Underground for no particular reason. The main reason I went with Hina is because she's another character who'd never appeared in the comic until now. (Hm ... in fact, I haven't used either of the Akis, Letty, or a good chunk of the PC-98 cast, either ... nor anyone from UFO except Kogasa, but that's because none of that had happened yet.)

That said, I'm probably going to have to put a Yuugi/Parsee pairing in a more definitely-"canon" context ... |3

Transcript

  1. (Parsee is standing around in the Underground; Hina is also there.)
    Parsee: Hmph! I'm jealous!
Hina: Hmm? About what? Anything in particular at the moment?
  2. Parsee: (turning on Hina) I'm jealous of all the other characters who've appeared in the comic when I haven't!!
Hina: (taken aback) Ah ... well ... you're appearing in the comic *now* ...
  3. Parsee: Oh ... uh ...
  4. (Yuugi comes up behind Parsee.)
Parsee: (vehemently) Well, then, I'm jealous because you've appeared in the comic more than I have!
    Hina: No I haven't.
Yuugi: Okay, Parsee, I think it's time for you to come home.

All Touhou characters are © Team Shanghai Alice and/or ZUN; create.swf is ⑨ KirbyM with help from Thefre. "Sakura petals" brush in main/4koma logo was made by Kisara Girl. "Falling leaves" brush in 60-Years logo came with Photoshop.

I have no idea why, but for some reason after seeing this, I have gained more of an appreciation of the way I drew Hina. Not that I had lacked any appreciation, it was just like a "Woah, that's pretty awesome there!" thing.

I don't know where I'm going with this. But yeah, the Aki sisters... they don't get much appreciation, do they. Well, they're pretty fun to draw. Maybe I just like the colors.

Oh yeah, the comic was good too.

Star

Hooray for blue border lines!

It's standard for 4komas, yes. ``

Tewi Inonymous

Hurray for humor and silliness!

Don't forget: Wednesday is 09-09-09!
Will there be a special comic?

Dizzy H. Slightly Voided

Mm, I dunno, probably not ... I tend not to do that sort of thing.

Twilight

I would totally support a Parsee/Yuugi pairing. Yuugi might be the only person laid back enough to deal with the constant jealousy.

Morgan

I think Parsee might be the one Touhou character who I just don't get at all. A person who's really jealous... with the power to manipulate jealousy...

I don't know. There's just something about it that I can't wrap my mind around the concept.

Gamerofthegame

I thought Parsee got her jealousy powers from being ~so~ jealous of people that she actually got powers of it, or something?

Twilight

I think she was the guardian of the bridge between the old Hell and the upper world, then once Hell stopped being a terrible place and she was still stuck on guard duty, she was jealous of everyone so much that she turned into a being of jealousy.

yea...kinda (read: very) strange, but come on, there've been stranger, Kogasa for example.

Don't be silly, the karakasa/tsukumogami phenomenon is perfectly-well understood.

The Yuugi/Parsee pairing always seemed kind of flimsy to me (although I did kind of enjoy "My Monster With Lovely Green Eyes!") -- it's based purely on the fact that their stages are next to each other. Same with the Nitori/Hina pairing (although I haven't seen a romantic version of it, the pairing almost seems like the basis for Nitori hanging around with Hina in Winter Scenery's "curse-junkie Hina" stories).

Of course, that may be because I'm slightly a Yuugi/Suika fan...

Dizzy H. Slightly Voided

Mm, yes, I can understand why that sort of thing might cause ... conflicts of interest, as it were.
