Touhou Nekokayou: Scarlet Weather Archive in Japanese Red #79

First Previous Random Next Latest

Characters: Marisa Kirisame, Flandre Scarlet, Tenshi Hinanai, Carroll Kirisame, Shanghai Margatroid, Satsuki Hakurei, Iku Nagae

Story begins here and ends there!

There really isn't much of a feasible way to depict characters lying down in create.swf ... also,

I originally wanted Tenshi to say "you maniac" in panel 2 in a sort of ... Hestonian fashion, but then I realized that Sakuya already called Tenshi a maniac in the previous comic.

A note about the making of the comic: most characters are scaled to 60% of the default height; Remilia is scaled to 48% and Flandre is scaled to 45%. However, for most of this story, I had Flandre at 48% so I could have Cirno at 45%. I probably need to work that out better ...

I am inordinately pleased with the fact that the Stone of the Celestials, at 50% scale, is just the right size to cover Marisa's face completely. Meanwhile, the joke in panel 7 and 9 was also a preplanned thing; you can also deduce when Catness (and UFO) take place in relation to PoFV.

Talking point: you have acquired (or inherited) a curse which will affect any children you might have. At some random point in their lives, before they have children of their own but after they are old enough to understand it, they will suddenly recieve the sensation of being hit in the face with a rock. It won't affect them adversely or have any lasting effects (in fact, it will also not to do this in a situation which would be dangerous for them), and it will never affect them again; but if they have any children, they will pass the curse onto them. Would you want to spend a considerable amount of time and effort to remove the curse? (Assume you don't have Flandre available to simply "break" it, and that none of the removal-methods will actually replace the curse with something worse.) Feel free to ponder this question until you forget the contents of the actual comic!

  1. Narration Box: After the dust had settled from the explosion ...
(Flandre, Marisa (in UFO outfit), and Tenshi lie scattered in the Magic Forest at night.)
    Flandre: Ow.
Marisa: (getting up) Man, that was awesome, Flan!
    Tenshi: Blarghies ...
  2. (They all variously get to their feet.)
Tenshi: You PSYCHO! Why didn't you even slow down with both me and that satori yelling!?
Flandre: Ugh ... Where is this? The Magic Forest?
Marisa: Hey, I never listen to people! (except Alice, but that's different)
  3. Tenshi: (cheerfully) Well, anyway, I guess you all get to share the credit for halting the "Catness!"
Flandre: (looking around nervously) And where's Koishi?
Marisa: (smirking) Din'cha forget somethin'? We've *stopped* you. We haven't *defeated* you yet.
  4. (Flandre flies away. Marisa and Tenshi face off, Marisa getting out her broom and mini-hakkero.)
    Flandre: KOISHI!
Tenshi: Muahahaha! I'll easily defeat you with my sword of Hisou!
    Marisa: Bring it awwwwwn!
    broom SFX: Appear!
  5. (Tenshi blanches.)
Tenshi: ... which ... seems to have gone missing in the explosion ...
    SFX: fail to appear!
    Marisa: (sweatdrop)
  6. (Tenshi's Stone descends from above and slams into the ground.)
Tenshi: Ah, whatever! I've still got my Sword of the Celestials! I can still defeat you!
Marisa: Is that gonna be yer answer to everything?
  7. (They rise up; Marisa fires a Master Spark, which Tenshi dodges.)
Tenshi: Of course it was! I'm gonna hit you so hard, your descendants will feel it!
Marisa: Um, was that *supposed* to make no sense?
  8. (The Stone of the Celestials slams into Marisa's face, knocking her off her broom and sending point-items flying.)
    Tenshi: YES IT WAS!
  9. (Cut to Carroll, Shanghai, and Satsuki in a forest; Shanghai and Carroll are reacting as if hit by something.)
    Shanghai: Ow!
    Carroll: Oof!
    Satsuki Text: ...?
  10. (Marisa's broom plummets; Iku, armed with the Hisou sword, comes up behind Tenshi with a murderous look.)
Tenshi: Oh yeah! I am the awesomest *anything* ever!

All Touhou characters are © Team Shanghai Alice and/or ZUN; create.swf is ⑨ KirbyM with help from Thefre. "Sakura petals" brush in main/4koma logo was made by Kisara Girl. "Falling leaves" brush in 60-Years logo came with Photoshop.

Tenshi's going to shoot that son of a ***** Marisa's face so hard that the next Marisa wannabe is gonna feel it.

(Sorry, movie Guile came to mind upon that rock-tossing panel.)

I love how happy Tenshi looks in panel 3.

Poor Flandre. ;.;

great, now everybody is spilled over Gensokyo... time for more adventuring!

Nice detail with the flashforward. I was thinking it was a tad odd there was such an specific number of years

Dizzy H. Muffin

Well, y'know, PoFV was a few years ago by that time, I didn't want to say it was sixty years later ... :3

nice touch linking to a comic that doesnt exist yet for the ending

p.s. your CAPTCHA always says the answer is wrong on the first time I try

Tewi Inonymous

This depends entirely on how painful said rock is really.

Also, eldest daughter?Bwuh?

Dizzy H. Muffin

That's what Iku always calls Tenshi.

I'm disappointed that not many people are answering the question...

I would willingly spend time and effort breaking such a curse, provided that it could be time when I didn't have any bigger projects going on. Partly because hey, pain isn't nice so I might as well, but also because if this scenario is like the comic it seems I'm a magician, which means it's always good for me to be working on something. Magical research is inherently worthwhile; who knows what interesting ideas I might get out of it along the way?

Facteur Rien

I really like the personnality you give to Flandre. There are so many artist who draw her as a psychopath without any reason, and you depicted her as someone who can be attached.
I really like this.
Oh, so This is like that that Iku stole the precious thing, the Hisou word. Someone's going to get spanked.

I think you messed that up somehow ...

Ah, no, it was intentional. It's Zalgo text, a part of an old meme.
Sorry for dͬ͛͂isturb.

You know, Fridge Logic, but judging by Tenshi's misbehavior and Iku's determination to punish her suggest that Tenshi has downright CRAPPY parents. that won't do it themselves Probably because they were too busy with their duties on earth that she was completely left to her own devices, and when they ascended, they had no duties but her parents thought she was old enough to again, be left completely to her own devices.
