Touhou Nekokayou: Scarlet Weather Archive in Japanese Red #51

First Previous Random Next Latest

Characters: Reimu Hakurei, Marisa Kirisame, Kanako Yasaka, Suwako Moriya, Mima

So, um, this is another idea I've had for ages ... It's probably slightly out-of-date, though.

I actually spent a certain amount of time getting Kanako's 「Mountain of Faith」 spellcard to look halfway like it does ingame (Normal difficulty). And it actually does look halfway like it; the other half is even more psychotic. (And, um, with the wrong colors. Whee, limitations~)

Marisa and Reimu's dialogue in panel 2 is a reference to how they defeated Remilia in Retelling of Scarlet Devil, right after she called them "foolish humans."

I couldn't decide whether it would be more funny for her to say "that stupid god" or "that stupid frog" ... so I went with BOTH! (Hit refresh to possibly see the "frog" version!)

Update 19 July 2009: The randomization for the new imaging system is working fine so far!

Transcript

  1. (Marisa and Reimu are having a danmaku duel with Kanako.)
    Spell Card: 「Mountain of Faith」
Kanako: Argh! Blasted mortals!! You defy the true power of the gods!! ... or ... something ...
  2. (Kanako explodes.)
    SFX: KRAKOW
Marisa: (slyly) Say, Reimu, does "blasted mortals" count as being like "foolish human"? Y'know, in terms of meaning they're screwed?
Reimu: (cheerful) Hmm ... I guess in this case it's close enough ... although we *had* almost completely beaten her anyway ...
  3. (Marisa and Reimu go to the Moriya Shrine, where Kanako is knocked out and Suwako is standing nearby.)
Suwako: Hooray! You have defeated the god of the Moriya Shrine and solved the mystery!
Marisa: Mystery? Was there really anything that was all that mysterious?
Reimu: Yeah ... I mean, I don't know what's more mysterious than why you're appearing *right* after we beat Kanako ...
  4. Suwako: (happy face) All will be revealed in time ... for the next commercial break, that is!
Reimu: I thought you said we'd *solved* the mystery.
  5. (Suwako suddenly puts on an evil face.)
Suwako: In that case, it's time to TAKE OFF HER MASK AND SEE WHO IT IS!
Reimu: The Hakurei Shrine will not be held responsible for loss of life or faith as a result of this action.
    Kanako: ... ugh ...
  6. (Suwako picks up Kanako, and Reimu floats closer, grabbing Kanako's face. Meanwhile, Marisa slowly starts floating upward and out of the panel over the next several panels.)
Kanako: What th ... Hakurei! What -- the -- it ...
  7. (The mask pops off, and Reimu is sent flying, revealing Mima's face!)
    SFX: BOING!
    Reimu: Wha!
    Mima: AUGH!
  8. (Mimi's hat appears on her head.)
    SFX: appear!
    Reimu: (bewildered) MIMA!?
Mima: That's right! And I would've got away with it, too, if it hadn't been for you meddling KIDS and that stupid FROG!
  9. (Reimu wakes up in her futon, with Suika sleeping nearby.)
    Reimu: (thought cloud) ?
  10. (Reimu and Kanako are standing in the Moriya Shrine. Reimu looks back at Kanako with a *very* suspicious look.)
Narration box: The next day ...
Kanako: Oh, hello, Reimu, Sanae's in her room, getting ready for faith-gathering...
Kanako: Um ... What's with *that* look?

LOL... this brought back memories... bad old saturday-morning memories... but, obviously, this is much better than all the cowardly dogs and their solving-misteries minions in the world

Echo

Wow... random text spawn?

Lol... Suwako... THERE WAS NO MYSTERY

Anyway... yeah... what?

Amaterasu-ōmikami

Props for the Scooby Doo reference.

Dan-heron

for some reason, I find Mima's hat appearing and Suwako slowly leaving the scene terribly funny........ must be lack of sleep.
Really good job with the danmaku, it shows the work put on it.
The looks on Reimu in the last panels are priceless too.
Oh, and I can relate to Reimu, waking up after a way too strange dream, just sorta staring at nothing and wondering, "WTF?"

Cat Megex

Lookin' quite Ichijou there in the second-to-last panel, Reimu.

Dizzy H. Slightly Voided

Ichi-who?

Random Encounter

Not too far down the list. A quick google should provide an image.

Dizzy H. Slightly Voided

Aha, k.

(Hmm, I should set up the comment-system so that it automatically puts "<a href>" around links ...)

Vilepigslayer

Mima doesn't get enough love.

Dizzy H. Slightly Voided

Some hold that she gets entirely too much love from those who, in their mind, have a knee-jerk "IS SHE GONNA BE IN THE NEXT GAME!? IS SHE GONNA BE IN THE NEXT GAME!? *bounces up and down*" reaction. So I guess you could say it balances out.

(Hmm, creating a regexp that will ignore URLs already in an <a href> statement is tough ...)

Tewi Inonymous

Druken loli oni yay!

Tesmy

I always though Kanako and Mima had too much in common.

SomethingUnreal

"...will not be held responsible for loss of life or faith". I LMAO'd.

nomad

stupid frog sound better

still a save both versions :P

Dizzy H. Slightly Voided

Glad to hear you liked it enough to do that either way.

Facteur Rien

YES !! Moar Mima!! Moar and moar Mima and Koakuma!

Neth

Frog sounds better, but god is better, because god backwards is dog ^_^
