Touhou Nekokayou: Scarlet Weather Archive in Japanese Red #3

First Previous Random Next Latest

Characters: Marisa Kirisame, Alice Margatroid, Shanghai

Now that I have gotten more skilled in Photoshop, as of 19 March 2009 the last panel actually looks like a kiss.

The sketchy pink background has now been used at least once per comic. In fact, it's being used at least three times per comic. I'm not doing that deliberately, honest!

No photoshop-use today, it was all done in MSPaint! Even the text on the two cards!

Transcript

  1. (Alice and Marisa are standing in front of Alice's house, with Shanghai floating behind Alice.)
Marisa: Heh, sorry about, y'know, goin' overboard like that at you, ze ...
Alice: (bashful, sweatdrop) N-no, it's all right ... you beat me fair and square. Anyway, danmaku doesn't actually hurt all that much, even your master sparks.
((Ed: this was waaaaaay before I ever came up with this, I was thinking danmaku was non-lethal in general.))
  2. Alice: (flatly) Anyway, uh ... why exactly did you call it "Perverse Love"?
Marisa: Oh, that? It's cuz of the perversity of thinkin' you're in the clear cuz of the beam bein' so narrow, and then wham, an even huger one hits you!
  3. Alice: Oh ... Oh! I see! Well ... I've actually been meaning to ask this for a while, but ... why exactly did you call them "Love Sign"?
Marisa: (getting out a spell card) And I've been waitin' a while for you to ask, ze! Here, it's on the back of the Spell Cards!
  4. (Sketchy pink background with Alice reading the backs of the cards, which appear to have really awful love poems.)
    Poem: Love Sign 「Master Spark」
This feeling of mine grows day by day ...
I would show you if there was a way ...
       Can our lives be intertwined,
with my heart yours, and yours being mine?
    Alice: Huh ...? Th-this is ...
Footnote: Joke stolen from "Dichromatic Butterfly" by Ennui Akadako
  5. Poem: Loving Heart 「Double Spark」
As I look upon your face,
Love, I find, grows with in me,
In my heart, I know the truth
Can I ever feel your love, too?
Ever have you by my side?
Alice: (thinking) W-wha ...!? The ... first letters of the lines ...
Footnote: Not the poems themselves, though.
  6. (Back to Alice's house; Alice blushes as she stares at Marisa, who is also blushing and grinning eagerly.)
    Alice: ...
    Marisa: ...
  7. Marisa: Well, why doncha just kiss me already!?
    Alice: (startled) Ah!
  8. (Marisa advances on Alice, still grinning and blushing.)
Marisa: Jeez ... I gotta do everythin' myself around here!?
    Alice: Mm ...
  9. (A closeup as they kiss!)

All Touhou characters are © Team Shanghai Alice and/or ZUN; create.swf is ⑨ KirbyM with help from Thefre. "Sakura petals" brush in main/4koma logo was made by Kisara Girl. "Falling leaves" brush in 60-Years logo came with Photoshop.

Awww That face Alice made is adorable

Wow, the poem thing was clever and very heartwarming at the same time. This is one of my favorite comics; good work.

DiMastine

I get that the second poem spells Alice. What's the code in the first one?

Dizzy H. Slightly Voided

There is none. It's about "I'm in love with you." :V

Wolf

Actually if you take the first word of each line the second poem I can see it spelling out Alice. Although that has to be coincidence there... right?

Dizzy H. Slightly Voided

I was talking about just the first one. The second one spelling out "Alice" is deliberate, and Alice says so. :P

Morgan

I was a bit confused about that myself, since the note about where the joke came from was in the panel before the one that contained the joke...

Dizzy H. Slightly Voided

The "love-notes written on the back of Love Sign cards" is the stolen joke. NOT THE SPELLING-OUT-ALICE'S NAME. :P :P :P

Morgan

Huh. I could have sworn there was something like that in there too.

Maybe this is what comes of being exposed to things backwards. Or I could just be thinking of a doujinshi for an entirely different series or something. <.<

Inkerius

@Morgan

There IS a doujin (Botsuneta Kyuusai hon) where Marisa writes ILOVEYOU with book titles. Maybe that's what you're thinking of?

Beta-Maxis

I know it's from Dichromatic Butterfly, but why do you call it a joke? It's not funny and it's not meant to be (cute and heartwarming though, definitely),so why call it a joke, rather than an idea?
