Touhou Nekokayou: Scarlet Weather Archive in Japanese Red #116

First Previous Random Next Latest

Characters: Suika Ibuki, Reimu Hakurei, Marisa Kirisame

I just wanted to do a "Miko Miko Suika" thing. Is that so wrong? ;)

Regarding Suika's comment in panel 4: I figure Byakuren would have various Views. Y'know, on things like people saying "an oni can't do a shrine maiden's work!" Not, y'know, to the point of demanding voting rights, but ... um ... I really need to do more work on Redefined Fantastic Object ...

Reimu and Marisa's banter in panel 5 was pretty much the first thing I came up with for this idea. Reimu's one-liner in panel 3 was more or less the second. The "hot summer/spring" setting was based on how hot and muggy it was today. The late afternoon and evening turned out fine, though. And I've run out of "and so ..." jokes.

The background is a modification of KirbyM's, with just the steps added (and made from the other in-create.swf-"outside of shrine" background). No particular point in giving credit if you use it yourself, I guess ...

While we're on the subject of how I created the comic, my new arch-enemy is forgetting to put shadows under the characters!

Transcript

  1. (Reimu and Suika are lying on the steps of the Shrine. Reimu is dressed more or less like she does in PoFV.)
Reimu: Blegh, it's too hot today ...
    Suika: (aside) Mmmm, drunken haze!
  2. (Marisa floats over, draped over her broom.)
Marisa: Hi, Reimu ... aren't you supposed to be doin' some chores now?
    Reimu: I don't wanna, it's too hot!
  3. (Marisa lands by the doors to the Shrine, while Reimu starts to get up.)
Marisa: Bah humbug, I'm-a go inside and grab some shade, ze.
Suika: (cheerful) I could do 'em with my superior oni strength!
Reimu: Yeah, but could you do them *well*? You take more sips of sake than you take *breaths.*
  4. (Everyone's on their feet and Marisa is paused at the doorway.)
Marisa: Yeah ... and do we even need to mention it'd be an oni doin' a miko's work?
Suika: Pah, the oni species has evolved to function perfectly fine while drunk! And you been listenin' to Hijiri, right?
Reimu: This is just absolutely preposterous and I'm not going to pay you when you do it.
  5. (Suika rushes inside.)
Marisa: O'course, now that I think of it, you'll prolly be doin' just as much work as usual.
    Suika: (aside) Gonna get changed!
Reimu: What's that supposed to mean!?
  6. (Suika, dressed in what appears to be Reimu's EoSD outfit, against a sketchy pink background.)
    Suika: TADAAAA!
  7. (Exterior shot of the Shrine, which is now sparkly.)
    SFX: SHIIIIINE
  8. (Suika, Reimu, and Marisa are standing under the arch.)
    Suika: MISSION CLEAR!
Marisa: (sweatdrop) That was ... uh ... yeah, pretty awesome. Didja learn some o' that in heaven?*
Footnote: *Suika buys a plot of land in the Heavens in SWR
Reimu: I think it was more gathering all the dirt together with her "manipulation of density ..."
  9. (Suika runs offscreen.)
Marisa: So, either way, pretty much the exact opposite of how well Reimu'd do ...
    Reimu: (irate) FGSFDS JSDBK
Suika SFX: knows trouble when she sees it coming

All Touhou characters are © Team Shanghai Alice and/or ZUN; create.swf is ⑨ KirbyM with help from Thefre. "Sakura petals" brush in main/4koma logo was made by Kisara Girl. "Falling leaves" brush in 60-Years logo came with Photoshop.

Yuyuko

And now suddenly Suika is the ultimate duster.

Centari Klaar

If she used her 'Manipulation of Density' to clean up the dirt... I wonder if that means there's a giant ball of dirt and dust somewhere... knowing that some youkai is going to think it's an incident haha.
"OH NO! GIANT BALLS OF DIRT!"

Keroko

All Byakuren would have to do when someone tells her that is point at Shou and go "I have a youkai serving as a Disciple of Bishamonten, your point?"

Also, yay for Miko Miko Suika reference.

Bocaj

Reimu's first objection: That Suika might break something.
Reimu's second objection: That Suika might want to get paid.

Both are equally disastrous in her eyes.

sRc

I got a jar of dirt...

Kitsune Inari

sRc's comment made me ROFLMAO instantly. It was kind of a low blow XD

Duran

You can never go with with Miko Miko Suika.

Docteur Hartmann

Yes! Miko miko Suika! Hooray for Haniwa's store.
And of course for perfect maid (?) oni Suika Ibuki.

gamemjoe

And so, Marisa is smacked in the face with a Yin-Yang ball.

Excellent comic.

gamemjoe

Also, Miko Suika is CUTE.

VIVI

even in her contradiction (is a oni and a miko!) Miko miko Suika is so awe! i must say it.

Poirsoner

Of course the dust has to go somewhere. It's how FOE are made.

Tewi Inonymous

NOOOOOOOOO, not FOE T.T

Jacob

Shine get! Sorry, couldn't help it.

Reimu's angry expression in the last panel is very amusing.

(9) CAPCHA

And EVEN IN YOUR WEBCOMIC, F.O.E!

Dizzy H. Slightly Voided

I didn't have any F.O.E.s here!

Atmos Blitzer

What the heck is a F.O.E.?

-ED

/ Modified by Dizzy H. Slightly Voided:

@Atmos Blitzer: Touhou wiki knows all, tells all. All hail.

Shinku Tsuki

Marisa: Uh-oh, I have a bad feeling that something with a yin yang is going after me.
And so, Reimu donated Marisa as a toy for Flandre.
A happy ending with "kyuu"! (this ending got everything)

Wyrm

Suika is nothing but an alcohol powered loli.

If you don't get it, google "dwarf alchohol powered beard", and you will get something relating to Dwarf Fortress. And yes, there is a Suika mod for it.

Dizzy H. Slightly Voided

This confirms that fans of both Touhou and Dorf Fortress are nuts (something we'd previously merely suspected).

linkhyrule5

I wonder how big the fandom intersection is? I mean, they're both insanely difficult, involved niche games written by a single person...

Dizzy H. Slightly Voided

Oh, I dunno. For one thing, it's a different kind of "difficult" and "involved," from what I can see: in Touhou, you need to do one kind of thing really well, whereas in DF, you need to be able to do everything.
