- (Rika, Tenshi, Yuka, Remilia, Suika, and Reimu are in front of the newly-rebuilt Shrine.)
Reimu: Yes! The Shrine has been successfully rebuilt!
Yuka: (aside) Why did *we* have to help, again?
Remilia: (aside) Just ... don't argue, okay? - (At Eientei, Reimu (now a catgirl) is being examined by Eirin, with Reisen looking on.)
Eirin: Aha! A mutated strain that wasn't visible at first.
Reimu: (merrily pissed-off) When I get my hands on that Celestial I'm gonna frickin' ...
Reisen: (aside) So ... she gave Reimu the "Catless Catness" and then went to wreck the Shrine? - (Cat-Reimu, Marisa, and Flandre in Eirin's outfit are at the Shrine. Suika is in the background.)
Suika: (aside) Time to break the new place in!
Marisa: Ya know, Eirin prolly coulda whipped somethin' up, ze.
Reimu: I know, I'm just more comfortable with what worked the last time than with some shady new drug ...
Flandre: Hold still! - (In front of the Shrine, Yukari floats above sits with Reimu and Marisa as they sit with tea.)
Yukari: I'm fooling around somehow today ... but I'm *not* going to tell you what I did.
Reimu: All together now: DAMMIT YUKARI!
Marisa: Wait, does the Shrine look kinda different at different distances? - (Reimu and Marisa fly through the woods and meet Wriggle.)
Wriggle: Yeah, Chen said Yukari wasn't actually doing anything except telling people she was.
Reimu: I should've saved my "dammit yukari" for *this.*
Marisa: Naw, it can be my turn now. - (They fly through an open field, when suddenly EX-Rumia comes up behind them.)
Marisa: Dunno how this afternoon can get any more annoyiWHY do I not know when to keep my mouth shut!?
EX-Rumia: YOU'LL NEVER GUESS WHO FROZE AND ACCIDENTALLY SHATTERED MY AMULET THIS TIME!
Reimu: Ugh ... - (Rumia (normal-mode now and amulet'd) is now facedown on the ground, with Marisa standing over her. Yukari is coming out of a gap. The sword is off in a tree in the background.)
Reimu: Yeah, we basically decided not to wait for you before we remade her amulet.
Rumia: ... is that soohhhhh ... - (Daiyousei and Cirno are by the lake, Cirno prone on the ground.)
Daiyousei: But ... they'd both just gotten done beating Rumia in her crazy-mode. How did you think *you'd* win?
Cirno: It's not my fault the wind-priestess told them how I beat the frog god ... - (Reimu and Marisa fly through the woods. Jenny Everywhere is beneath them.)
Reimu: Stupid fairy. But as I was saying, it's like the only thing we *haven't* met are travellers from another dimension ...
Jenny: (sweatdrop) Um ...
Marisa: I think that was just your turn to jinx things. - (Reimu and Jenny are standing in front of the Shrine's torii archway.)
Reimu: So, Jenny, if I help you get out of the Border, you'll be able to get back to your home dimension with no problems?
Jenny: (not meeting her eyes) Uh, let's just say the answer is *close enough* to "yes."
Reimu: ..... - (Reimu and Marisa sit at the shrine, drinking tea.)
Reimu: It's always so boring between Incidents ...
Marisa: Yeah, practically nothin' ever happens.

@ssmagus: Nah, it doens't non-canonically kill anybody off "JUST TO SHOW WE MEAN BUSINESS." Therefore, it is not TOO EPIC enough.

@Etaoin Shrdlu: Now that you mention it ... *goes and adds Jenny's name to the dialogue*

Flandre looks adorable in that Eirin outfit. I don't know why. It's not particularly adorable when Eirin wears it.
Also, did Rumia killify Cirno after the amulet came off or did she just go to find Reimu and Marisa?
Dizzy H. Slightly Voided
@Bocaj: The latter. I probably would have had Cirno mention getting beaten twice if Rumia had squished her, too. (That said, I can just imagine Cirno trying to use any flavor of Icicle Fall on Ex-Rumia, who doesn't even consider trying to go into the safe-spot because it's an "obvious trap" ...)

all that's missing now is a Moriya Shrine Conspiracy, and you've got the entire set of Forbidden Templates covered

I laughed. Hard.

You should definitely do that. It would be downright hilarious.

Nah, I have Plans for Mima. If she showed up here and now, it would create a time paradox.
I was considering putting (say) EX-Rumia in the last panel there, but ...

@KurisuMurei: The Outside World doesn't count as "another dimension." Okay, maybe they can travel to other dimensions, but they technically didn't need to do so to get to Gensokyo.
@sRc: no. Compare the Shrine in panel 1 with its appearance in panel 4.

Noob time part deux! I've been meaning to ask but I kept forgetting, and it might have been explained somewhere (I'm still discovering things on this site) but how do you make the characters face away from the audience.
My main goal (insofar as I actually plan these things at all) was to make a series of panels which could theoretically each stand alone on their own (except maybe panel 7, which is kind of stuck with panel 6) and at the same time being part of a whole coherent narrative. Another thing I did was to work on it throughout the whole week, a just couple panels a day, which cut down on ... um ... everything.
If you're wondering what Flandre's doing dressed like Eirin, see the end of Catness to refresh your memory. As for what Suika was doing when Reimu went on her rampage: presumably, she was helping.
No photoshop was involved with the positioning of Rumia's amulet. (I had to edit her head and dress to change it to a back-view, but not the amulet!) I just took a second Rumia, changed the body, arms, shoes, and hair to "none," and snuck it in behind the "real" one's head.
I like including little bits of continuity, like ... well, the whole thing is a followup of comic #107, or Cirno referencing her defeat of Suwako. I have dozens of ideas, and I like to make little callbacks and call-forwards. Someday somebody's going to read some as-yet-unwritten fic, and then they'll be going through my short stories and spot an obvious reference, and then go "WHAT!?" as they realize that it was written in 2009 ...
Jenny Everywhere is ... um ... Jenny Everywhere. "The character of Jenny Everywhere is available for use by anyone, with only one condition. This paragraph must be included in any publication involving Jenny Everywhere, in order that others may use this property as they wish. All rights reversed." That's really all there is to say about the matter, other than that I'm disproportionately pleased with having made her in create.swf (3.39:Jenny Everywhere:100:0:151:190:177:2:1:0:0:79:0:333333, with extras). I guess the Hakurei Border interferes with her ability to "shift" voluntarily. (EDIT: And here's an update, using actual recently-added (as of 20 June 2010) create.swf items: 3.39:Jenny Everywhere:100:253:151:190:177:2:1:0:0:116:0:333333)
But yeah. The eleventy-first comic. I'm no longer as overly-enthusiastic as I was when I made comic #50. I suppose you could say I've started taking for granted that I have this, now. I am firmly entrenched enough that I can easily imagine making it to #150, #200, #500 ... maybe even #1000, although I expect I'll have lost interest by then. Regardless, I promise that I won't continue doing this if it becomes a chore and quality suffers as a result.
