2014/04/03 - My Touhou fanworks are over

This was a really hard decision to make. Not that it wasn't obvious to me what decision I was going to go with, but as you can imagine, it's not a happy choice.

So, no more Cottagesnagged, no more Touhou Nekokayou, no more of my ridiculously ambitious fanfics all in that shared universe. Part of it is because it feels like my universe has kinda gotten away from me; it's too elaborate to properly keep track of, much less resolve all possible plot threads I've left open (the shadow-thing from the Broken History arc that was obviously Sasha Sashiromiya, what the hell Renko and Maribel were going to get up to), by which I suppose I mean "finish writing the damn stories." But the main reason is simple: I'm just not interested in it anymore. The effort of working on this seriously outways any reward, either external or internal.

Rather than just trying to drag this on, it'll be best if I lay this to rest, and not have it hanging over my head even on an "I'll pick it up when I feel better" basis. In that respect, it's kind of a relief, really. I'll miss it like hell, for a while, but then I'll move on. You can't have everything, and you certainly can't keep everything.

So ... I'll leave this site up, of course, for archival purposes if nothing else. Hell, there's still other stuff I can put here (Summernight Dreamed, for one). But yeah. The Touhou section is officially closed.

Sorry to hear that. But I understand your decision. Hopefully the reduced stress helps.

I'm sad to see this come to an end but, it's completely understandable. Thanks for all the great stuff!

I'm really sorry to see this comic go, but I fully understand your position on the matter. There is no real reason to update something that ultimately feels like a chore more than anything else. I'm just wondering, if you're able to do so, where it was going to end? What was the ultimate goal of the two comics or were you developing them over time with no real ending in place? I'm not looking for some complicated explanation, just maybe a bare-bones outline you may have been following. Thanks for the 6 years of entertainment, I look forward to see what you may produce in the future. Good Luck!

I didn't have a real "ultimate goal" for the setting as a whole, just some specific stories I wanted to tell within it. I suppose I might spell things out in the timeline at some point ...

Thanks! It's nice to know your inner workings at the very least. And again, good luck on your future endeavors!

Λs a huge fan of your work, I am incredibly sorry to hear this. But, as I feel one of the benefits of webcomics and fanfics (as well as whatever Cottagesnagged qualifies as) is that the creator can abandon the works with relatively few repercussions, I don't feel I have a right to complain about it.

In any case, I deeply thank you for what it is you have done, and I wish you the best of luck with your current and future endeavors.

Ah... this is the end?

Well, I respect your choice, considering your situation right now (good luck about that).

I am, by the way, another fanfic writer, including Touhou fanfics that you wrote.

As an author myself, I was amazed by how you were able to combine the PC-98 and Windows Kanon with that celestial stone, well, it starts from that. The rest of your works are amazing with all those topics you introduced (and I even fell inlove with Masha), and I can't just forget your stories despite them being against with my stories.

Hehe, I sound like saying goodbye to someone dear, but, I really am that obessed with stories (sorry bout that) including yours. Even the yuri events are acceptable for me.

There are also a LOT of times I get that writer's block too, where I get uninterested in the stories I start, so in the end, I have a lot of unfinished drafts that are never seen by others, but there are also times I get to reread them again.

I would be surprised of the stuff I wrote because I completely forgot about them. Then, when I reach the abrupt end of my writings, I would subconsciously continue them in my mind, then I am interested once again.

These are all my opinions, but I would be glad if you would understand my side too, before thinking of completely stopping your stories.

Well, good luck. ^w^
