2010/11/13: Bikeness

So, shenanigans. I woke up feeling groggy because I didn't even get a full night's sleep with Ibuprofen PM. I got up and then like five minutes later I got a call from the bike shop, saying they got the new wheel in. I got there around 1:30, and the guy said it'd take an hour and a half what with other stuff he had to do, so I walked over to a nearby-ish school just in time for my mom and stepdad to start playing music at a crafts fair. Let's just say that it wasn't their usual atmosphere and they didn't get paid very well for it. So then we went and had ice cream, and then I went to the bike shop (which was practically across the street from the ice cream place) and biked around for another hour or so.

And now I'm still feeling groggy because I took Ibuprofen PM last night.

I was about to comment on a crossover of catness and bikeness, but I will refrain from that. Anyway, bike repaired, damage undone, that's good. If you have sleeping problems, try some herbal tea.

Joseph Staleknight

@KamuiK: I agree. Especially if it's vanilla tea.

I have no sense of restraint.

@Formica

good god, don't try making tesseracts in Gensokyo. last time someone did it got lodged in the border and multiple realities started folding into one!

also, lmao. alas, poor Koakuma's sanity, we knew you well, small as you may have been

KamuiK

Root of -1? Gotta love imaginary numbers.

Dizzy H. Slightly Voided

In Gensokyo, imaginary numbers are REAL!

sRc

actually, now that I noticed it in the formula, I'm FAR more worried that the 4th-dimensional number in Koakuma's third set of coordinates is SCP restricted. messing with that kind of stuff can be vastly more damaging here...

Thanks. Yeah, I kicked the puppy a bit. Oh well, like all comic characters, she'll get better. She just needs to tilt a few giants.:)

Yeah, I started thinking of screwball numbers to use. i was a given, then an integer raised to an irrational number (phi, the Golden Ratio), and then I remembered that there was an SCP Foundation entry on a number that breaks logic and reality. Oddly appropriate, particularly since it's not a memetic hazard (though I only skimmed the entry). Didn't know if anyone would get it or just write it off as an odd formula, good job!

No wonder everyone can fly*.

* Obscure reference: Fluid dynamics simulations - and therefore aerodynamics - rely on complex numbers. (Half imaginary/half real numbers.)

My goddess, what have I done? XD

oh that was supposed to be phi? the greek alphabet was escaping me, and usually when used as a mathematical constant its written Ï• so I wasn't quite sure what you were going for for that one

and the SPC ended up just being a guess when I saw it (and only half confirmed when I looked it up to see what that item number was)... haven't really read much of the SPC set because I liked the Holders better

Yeah, I realized too late I'd used the actual Greek phi and not the mathematical phi. To rip from Wikipedia: (uppercase Φ, lowercase φ or math symbol ϕ)

Really? I'm the opposite. The Holders never really grabbed me. The SCP stuff makes for a good way to pass time at work when it's slow or at night just before I go to bed (as nightmare fuel it doesn't do much for me other than the occasional startle).

sRc

well I read creepypasta's for the Story. the Holders seemed more interesting to me because it was a sweeping story - as opposed to the SCP's overall just archive and list idea - and sounded interesting for the story over a course of a video game. I had an idea for one such adaptation, too, but ended up dropping it because I couldn't find anything on the true original author to find out if the material was public domain'd or not. didn't want to toss out everything planned, tho, so I ended up adapting my idea into my own ever-grown list of Objects, and now I try to avoid reading too much SPC or the Holders wiki updates so I don't accidentally poison my own properties with things that would be extremely complicated to license.

"Too much math!" said the programmer.

Mariku

About... 5 posts now about your bike. Or maybe I could've missed one. Since I was just looking at titles with the word "bike" in it(lolz).

Dizzy H. Slightly Voided

There's also "Already chaos and contusions" and "This must be Thursday. I never could get the hang of Thursdays ..."

So, 7, unless I've missed something, too.

Welcome to the world of content creation.:/

"Too much math!" said the programmer.

No such thing. (As too much math. Not no such thing as programmers.)

sRc

good thing you clarified. I was about to have an existential crisis about my existence, until I remembered I'm also an author. so either way I still exist.

I think...

Arcc

Huh? Of course programmers exist.

. . . in Gensokyo.

[MUFFINEDIT TO FIX'D~]

I wouldn't doubt that, originating there anyway. same with managers, I think we were a subclass of Tengu last I checked. dont know any humans that would willingly do a job that can effectively never be in a completed and perfect state

A very good demonstration of laboring at something only to create something unfinished* and imperfect, though.:)

*And I typed that "uninfished" first time.

the worst thing is I had previewed it, corrected something else, and it was the correction that introduced the problem. orz
